Job Title: Paint Sprayer
Position Details: Hourly, Full Time
Department/Group: Bed Fabrication Dept.
Shift: 1st Shift (Monday – Friday, 6:30am – 4:00pm)
Roles and Responsibilities
The Paint Sprayer’s responsibilities include, but may not be limited to,
- Understand the safety features of the machines and tooling to ensure they are operating without compromise to safety systems.
- Follows safety protocol and procedures, including wearing proper PPE attire.
- Respect and protect Swanton Welding’s and third party’s property (tools, vehicles, facilities, equipment) and business activities.
- Work closely with Shop Supervisor to discuss schedule
- Removes rust, splatter and other loose material from surface to be sprayed
- Fills, sands and smooths surfaces that need to be sprayed
- Applies masking tape and coverings over areas that do not require paint
- Selects and mixes the required coatings per product instructions
- Selects and uses proper spray nozzle for painting
- Maintains, organizes, and cleans spray area equipment after each job
- Inspects sprayed surfaces after painting job
- Always conduct self in a way that promotes a positive image of the Swanton Welding and follows the Code of Conduct
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience working as a painter
- Excellent eye and hand coordination
- Knowledge of paint products and paint tools used
- Experience working with respirators and protective clothing
- Ability to work with paint, thinners and other paint products
- A work history of compliance to safety, quality, and productivity standards
- A work history that supports a good to excellent attendance record
- Fast learner and able to adapt in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision
- Detail oriented approach to daily work activities
- Able to work well in a team-oriented work environment
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
Preferred Skills
- At least 2 years’ of manufacturing/industrial painting experience
Physical Requirements
- Walking, Standing, Sitting Kneeling, Stooping (Frequently)
- Lifting, Carrying up to 50 pounds (Occasionally)
- Temperatures (Occasionally)
Additional Notes
- May require overtime with little notice before or after normal work hours or weekends.
