Certified Welders Make a Positive Impact on Your Project
To the layperson, all welding may appear to be equal. However, the companies that team up with Swanton Welding for their custom metal fabrication know better. The experience and certifications earned by our professional welders are what set us apart from the rest of the companies in our field.
Since the very beginning, one of our top priorities at Swanton Welding has been to deliver high quality projects by leveraging our highly skilled team. One of the ways we ensure all our team members are capable of providing high quality work is to make sure they have all been trained and certified. Within a short window after employment, Swanton Welding qualifies 90 percent of our welders to the D1.1 structural steel certification. That means every project that comes across our desks gets trained professionals delivering on that high-quality promise.
AWS Certifications
While being proficient on the job is one of the requirements for every welder and fabricator we hire, Swanton Welding knows we can promise the highest quality workmanship when there are certifications to back it up.
The American Welding Society’s (AWS) D1.1 endorsement for structural steel is a jumping-off point of sorts for anyone pursuing a career in welding. It’s an entry-level requirement at Swanton Welding, and one that ensures all of our welders and fabricators can perform their duties in a professional and efficient manner. The certification exam encompasses both written and performance tests that determine a welder’s level of competency and knowledge.
The D1.1 endorsement covers a wide range of materials that a welder is certified to work with, but it is far from the end-all, be-all of certifications. Proficiency in working with different materials and material thickness grant different endorsements. The AWS also recognizes proficiency in:
- Structural Aluminum (D1.2)
- Bridge Welding (D1.5)
- Railroad Welding (D15.1)
- Aerospace Welding (D17.1)
While a professional can definitely possess the skills to work with different materials and different processes without certifications, being able to support our clients with well-trained staff brings peace of mind. In addition to AWS certifications, many on our team also have endorsements from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
The Swanton Difference
Having well-trained and experienced welders and fabricators at our facilities means we are able to stake our name on the custom work that rolls off the line everyday. Working with steel, aluminum, copper, and bronze can take very different skill sets. No matter what it takes, our team is qualified to perform tool and die work, flux-cored arc welding, gas tungsten arc welding, gas metal arc welding, shielded metal arc welding, or hardfacing. All these services are performed in-house to your exact specifications.
State-of-the-art technology is part of the process, to be sure, but you also need well-trained experts in their field to operate that technology. Combine that with in-house Certified Welding Inspectors (CWI), and Swanton Welding is a formidable force in the realm of custom metal fabrication and welding.
Having well-trained and highly capable fabricators and welders is just the tip of the iceberg at Swanton Welding. From start to finish, we believe you’ll appreciate our approach to overall customer service. Whether one of our Ohio locations or our facility in Georgia best meets your needs, we can get what you need no matter where you are on the map.
While custom welding and fabrication may cost a little more than buying off the rack, so to speak, you’ll discover that a project designed and carried out to your exact specifications ultimately gives you more bang for your buck. No matter what your custom metal needs are, you’ll find our team ready and willing to help you bring your project to fruition.
