Employee Spotlight: Christina Harnisch

It has been well-established that Swanton Welding Company is all about its people, and we are proud to turn our attention to Christina Harnisch.

Christina is fairly new to the Swanton family, having joined the company as our Human Resources Director in May of 2024. While Christina has had a long career in HR, her previous role was hands off, and Christina was ready to make a move to a more hands-on role to keep her both engaged and challenged.

Christina asserts that Swanton Welding is a great company to work WITH, rather than FOR. As someone who has had many roles over the course of her career, she feels the difference, and Swanton is something special. They are supportive and invested in their team and demonstrate that commitment daily. Christina thinks her future at Swanton Welding is exciting and knows she wants to finish her career here because the company is continuing to move in such a good direction.

As the Human Resources director, Christina knows that there are misconceptions that the human resources department is on the side of the company instead of the employees, but that’s just not true at Swanton. In her role, Christina is there to protect both and be a neutral advocate for the company and the employee. The role of HR has shifted to become more employee centric, and Christina will strive to make life better inside and outside of work for all employees. Another goal of hers is to ensure that Swanton Welding keeps qualified candidates engaged in this competitive welding and fabrication field by providing information that highlights why Swanton is the right fit for talented welders.

Christina is heavily involved with SHRM (The Society for Human Resource Management) and loves keeping up to date with the latest practices in her career, but beyond her professional pursuits, she loves spending time with family, including her kids and grandkids. Christina is all about having experiences with your loved ones and loves to travel as much as she’s able. She knows it’s important to make time, even with her busy job, to find the right balance and invest in both her family at home and her family at work.

We are happy that Christina has found a home here at Swanton Welding Company. We know she has a great future ahead of her and will always have a place at Swanton, where we invest in our people.
