Employee Spotlight: Tony Vasko
Swanton Welding Company values every member of our team, and we are excited to focus on Tony Vasko who has been part of the Swanton Welding family for almost twenty years. He got his start on the ground floor and has worked his way up to his current role as the Truck Bed Manager. In this role, Tony takes care of the bed shop and all the employees in it, overseeing installs and deliveries that take our projects from the shop to their new homes.
Tony’s grandfather got him interested in welding when he was young. In high school, through shop classes and the VoAg program, he was able to do a bit of welding and came to Swanton when he was only 18. In his nearly twenty years it seems like Tony has held every job Swanton Welding has to offer. Tony started his career here with welding on racks, then moved on to do painting, machining, pressing, and running lasers. Tony’s favorite role was when he worked as a foreman.
Tony speaks fondly about his time as a foreman and how much he loved interacting with all the employees on his team. His favorite project in his 20 years at Swanton wasn’t a specific build, but rather going into the factories and doing the shutdowns, where you get offsite and do something that was a challenge. In those projects, you really build relationships, from the drive over to the hard work to the meals you share. Tony also has great memories of working second shift in the building out back and developing relationships with so many people who also started at the ground level. Outside of work, Tony is an avid deer hunter, but also enjoys working on projects around the house.
Having a long-time team member like Tony validates our commitment to investing in our people. When solid workers like Tony stay around for so long, not because they have to, but because they want to, we know we are doing something right.
