Employee Spotlight: Jan Sulewski
Our most valuable resource is our people. We’d like to put the spotlight on another key member of the Swanton Welding team, Jan Sulewski.
Jan is our Controller and manages the finances for all three of the Swanton Welding locations. As you might imagine, her day to day is quite busy managing all the tasks related to accounting, invoicing, paying bills, collections, banking, assisting with large quotes, packing slips, setting up trucks, and anything else that needs to be tackled. Jan is the very definition of a team player and is willing to help where ever and when ever needed.
Jan’s Start With Swanton Welding
Her journey with Swanton Welding began 28 years ago. She began as an office helper. After about 3 years, the woman that had been handling the accounting left the company and she took over. Jan had some banking experience that provided a solid foundation to build upon. She worked closely with Norm Zeiter to learn all the ins and outs of the business.
As the company grew, so did her role. There was more demand, more responsibility, and more people to interact with internally and externally.
What Makes Jan Good at What She Does
Plain and simple, Jan excels because she truly enjoys what she does at Swanton Welding. She loves to have been part of the growth of the company over the past three decades. To be key member of a team that continually strives to be better and takes care of their customers and their people so well.
Being part of the daily operations and knowing what is going on is exciting. She takes great pride in seeing what the company can do, the impressive projects they ship out, and the savings she can find that impact the bottom line.
What Swanton Welding Means to Her
Swanton Welding is special to Jan specifically because of her family ties. Norm D. Zeiter is her brother. He was a very special man that developed a dream she is so thankful and proud to be a part of. Working next to her brother, she got to witness first hand the successes that came from his approach of helping others achieve what they wanted. He taught people their roles, gave them the tools to succeed, and treated them all like family. All of these attributes developed a group of people that had the same devotion and love for what they which led to what Swanton Welding is today and will continue to strive for in the future.
Where Does Swanton Welding Excel Above Others
The one main component of Swanton Welding that sets them apart from other metal fabrication companies is their people. Not just the key players that you might encounter when doing business with Swanton Welding but every single member of their team. They are all great people doing everything they can to do right by their customers.
Another contributing factor is the equipment that Swanton Welding invests in. Their commitment to having the right equipment to allow them to produce the highest quality at a competitive price is though to match.
Notable Moments During Her Career
While the entire journey has been enjoyable, Jan notes the opening of the Georgia facility and the Heavy Fabrication facility in Wauseon, Ohio to be key components to the growth of the company. Jan is proud of her contributions to both of these expansion projects as they further added to the overall capabilities of the company allowing them to better service their customers.
Away From Work
Jan is a family person away from work as well. She loves spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren. This includes traveling to Georgia to visit her son, Johnny Sulewski, and her grandchildren.
On specific thing that Jan loves is going to breakfast. Finding new places to go is always a treat.
Thank You
We want to thank Jan Sulewski for her continued commitment to the Swanton Welding team. Your daily contributions help us work towards our consistent goal of becoming the best metal fabrication company in the country.
