Swanton Welding Company is all about its people, and we’d like to take this opportunity to introduce you to Devin Nijakowski, one of our younger employees, who has been working with us for 3 years in the main facility. Devin has exceptional potential in fabrication and metalworking and has sharpened his skills while working at Swanton Welding Company. With his dedication, strong character, and work ethic, Devin is always willing to take on any challenge and makes our company stronger.Close up of Devin smiling with his arms folded across his chest.

Swanton Welding is in Devin’s Blood

At Swanton, we love that our employees feel like our family, and in some cases, our employees are literally family. Devin has been working at Swanton Welding for nearly three years, but Devin’s father, Nick Nijakowski, has worked at Swanton for over thirty years, starting as a clean-up kid in the shop and working his way up through the ranks. Nick is now a Certified Welding Inspector. We are proud that Devin made the choice to follow in his dad’s footsteps. We have been proud to see all that Devin has accomplished in his years at Swanton. When we interviewed Nick for his employee spotlight a few years ago, he spoke proudly about his son and was excited to see what his future held. We are proud that Swanton Welding has been part of that.

Devin is Proud to Begin Serving our Country this Month

Swanton Welding is proud that Devin has goals that reach beyond Ohio. After his graduation this spring as a member of the Swanton High School Class of 2024, Devin is joining the Air National Guard and will be leaving for basic training in Texas on September 10, 2024.  Devin has been committed to joining the service for many years and is excited to get started. After he returns from basic training, he will be an aircraft maintenance technician and work at the 180th Airborne in Swanton. The Air National Guard provides ample career and leadership opportunities as well as education benefits, and we know that Devin will make us all proud. It takes many roles to work together for a strong aircraft, and we know Devin will be successful in his role, where he will learn from the best while becoming his best, putting his skills to work every day.

Dreams of the Skies

Devin grew up as an athlete, but his ultimate goal was to be a pilot. Devin has wanted to fly for years. As a kid at an air show in Dayton, Ohio he first got the idea of piloting, and as he grew he always had that dream in mind. Devin’s training in the Air National Guard will help him achieve that goal, and his work as an aircraft maintenance technician will give him some of the knowledge and skills he needs to round out his career. After returning from basic training, Devin plans to attend BGSU and take aviation courses. He will spend six years in the Air National Guard, and after he leaves the service, the sky’s the limit. The aviation experience Devin will gain, along with the on-the-job fabrication experience he has already gained from Swanton, is setting him up for a rewarding life and career.

We at Swanton Welding are thrilled to have had Devin working on our team for as long as he has and are excited to see what Devin does in the future after his time in the Air National Guard and aviation training. We could not be prouder of Devin and his whole family, both at home and at Swanton Welding, is ready to watch him shine. As we move forward, we know Devin will continue to take on the challenges of every opportunity that comes his way.
