Bridge and Boardwalk
Swanton Welding was contracted to build a bridge and boardwalk for a client in Westfield, IN. Our estimation team and project manager worked with the client to make sure we provided an accurate and complete quote and timeline.
This project took place from late May through late September of 2024. This bridge and boardwalk, weighing 35,000 pounds and with dimensions of 53’ long, 110’ wide, and 70’ tall, was shipped to Westfield, IN, as an oversized load.
Swanton Welding Company can meet any unique or custom customer specifications and demands and transport the completed projects, regardless of size. Since the Swanton Welding location is in Northwest Ohio, it is located near several major transportation hubs, meaning we can deliver large, heavy loads without issue.
The project was completed on time with no issues using structural beams and Corten sheet. Swanton fabricated the base from structural steel and used hot-dip galvanizing to finish it.
The picketed fence is made of Corten materials for weathering, and we also installed the wooden decking and the wood top rail. The methods used during fabrication included laser cutting, press braking, machining, beamline, and wire welding.
For the finishing details, the base was hot-dip galvanized. Swanton has an entire team at our facility, and our in-house Certified Welding Inspector inspects every project.
Having a CWI to sign off on every project guarantees that we will maintain best practices and safety standards and that every fabrication project that leaves our shop will be of high quality.
Our goal is to build projects that will last, and having multiple team members involved in signing off on a finished project means that our client will be satisfied. We fabricated something the client was thrilled with in just under four months.
